The Nitrogen Cycle

The nitrogen cycle, involves the process of how nitrogen moves around in an ecosystem. First of all, nitrogen is both in the air we breath and in the soil. When organic things die, they put nitrogen back into the soil. Trees get nitrogen from the soil, it acts as nutrients and is one of the key components of growing plants. When branches of that tree, or the whole tree fall down, it puts the nitrogen back into the soil. The nitrogen then either goes to another plant, or goes into some sort of water source. If the nitrogen ends up in the water, it will evaporate and get put into the air. Humans can alter the amount of nitrogen in the atmosphere by industrial fixation. Also, Humans put nitrogen into the soil to help plant growth. An interesting fact about nitrogen is that it makes up 78% of the air we breathe.
